Learning to thrive in the new life Jesus offers us – 2 Corinthians 5:16-17

Top Posts of 2014

Top Ten

I am delighted that the number of regular readers and visitors to NewLife has continued to grow in 2014.  I am especially pleased that I have got to know some of you. Some I have met via facebook, etc; others I have been able to meet in real life.  I truly appreciate our supportive network.

So, what have people been reading on NewLife this year?  Here are the top 10 most visited posts for 2014.

1. Abigail: A Bible Woman with Beauty and Brains

Coming in at number 1, this article received 28,000+ visits in 2014.  Sadly, judging by the comments, many of the visitors are women with difficult marriages seeking some kind of consolation.

2. Mujeres de la Biblia con Autoridad Espiritual

This article is just one of several Spanish translations on this website.  See my Español page for more translated articles.

3. Paul and Women, in a Nutshell

This succinct article, which is one of my favourites for 2014, was helped along by a tweet from Rachel Held Evans and a mention in one of her Sunday Superlatives.  This is my only article, so far, which has received over 1000 facebook shares.  Thanks Rachel!

4. 7 things you may not know about the King James Bible

The popularity of this article keeps increasing and is currently overtaking “Abigail” as far as weekly numbers are concerned.  I am surprised and disappointed – and, I confess, sometimes amused  – by the vitriolic responses I get from some Christians in response to this article, despite the fact that I say the KJV is a great English translation.  Dear, oh dear . . .  (The nastier comments get deleted.)

5. Proving that Jesus is God from Old Testament Scripture

This is an old article – one of the first posted on this website, back in July 2009 – but it is still reasonably, and consistently,  popular.

Here are the next 5 most popular posts.

6. A Brief History of the Samaritans
7. Paul’s Main Point in Ephesians 22-33
8. Interpretations and Applications of 1 Corinthians 14:34-35
9. Martha, Mary, and Lazarus of Bethany
10. A Suitable Helper

And here are the top 5 most-read articles that were actually written and posted in 2014.

1. Paul and Women, in a Nutshell posted on the 6th of October.
2. Egalitarian Books and Resources on Marriage posted on the 14th of July.
3. Mary Consoles Eve posted on the 24th of December.
4. The First Century Church and the Ministry of Women posted on the 8th of October.
5. Jesus’ Teaching on Leadership and Community in Matthew’s Gospel posted on the 27th of February.

Finally, here’s a shout-out to the wonderful The Junia Project and a big thank you for your friendship (and for the links!)  And a shout-out to HonorShame for the invaluable perspective you bring which is essential for understanding biblical culture, as well as many cultures today.

My plan for NewLife this year is to keep posting articles and resources for “new creation” people . . . and to finish my Bible study on First Peter.

Have a happy, healthy, and productive 2015!

Grace and peace

Hi, Marg. Just catching up on my blog reading and was honored to read the mention of The Junia Project! Thanks for that. It had been an honor being on partnership with you across the globe. We think your scholarship and contributions are invaluable to the current discussions of biblical equality. Many blessings on your ministry in 2015! Oh and I loved your “nutshell” posts, as well as the Phoebe series. Keep them coming!
